We are a team of seasoned operators and investors with roots tracing back to Asurion – the most successful search fund acquisition ever. We’ve played a central role in the development of the search fund model, to include the continuous refinement of the criteria for search.
Our story began in 1995 when Jim and Kevin bought Road Rescue, a roadside assistance company that would eventually become Asurion, a global provider of technology care services. Seeing the potential of the search model in its infancy, Will backed Jim and Kevin’s vision as one of their first investors. Shortly after, Asurion’s leadership team grew with the addition of Gerald and Bret.
Asurion remains privately held; each of our original partners — Kevin, Will, Bret, Jim, and Gerald — retain ownership, with Kevin and Bret actively involved in management.
Since these auspicious beginnings, we’ve grown up with the search fund model – and the search fund model has grown up with us. The private equity firm Will co-founded, Housatonic Partners, backed many of the original search funds.
To date, we have collectively served on over 50+ boards of search-acquired and other companies, and supported many search fund entrepreneurs. In 2007, we formed TTCER. What was initially conceived as an experiment matured into a full-time investment partnership as we realized how much fun we were having and how impactful we were in helping entrepreneurs reach full potential.
As the community has grown, so too has TTCER. Over time we welcomed Sara and Ian, who each bring unique experiences, and a passion for entrepreneurship and growth. We believe they are a perfect cultural fit.
We are deeply inspired by the entrepreneurs with whom we are fortunate enough to work. Our joy, experience, and commitment make us devoted partners. We skip (occasionally hop) to work every day.
